The View from our MP: Making Lewisham Safer
As Joan Ruddock MP reported in March 2005:
"Lewisham is starting to see real benefits from an increase in Police. Latest figures show 625 officers in Lewisham, compared to 558 in 2000. Areas such as Deptford, New Cross and Telegraph Hill have also benefited from the introduction of safer neighbourhood teams. These area-based teams, which consist of one sergeant, 2 constables and 3 police community support officers are also planned for New Cross Gate."
